Trento City has a strong Renaissance imprint and among the most impressive monuments we note the Duomo Cathedral with the Museo Diocesano, the Castello del Buonconsiglio, now a museum hosting temporary and permanent exhibitions, and Piazza Fiera with its impressive city walls. Also of note, the well conserved Roman Casa Romana and the frescoed facades of Via Belenzani. www.apt.trento.it Rovereto, instead, is most famous for the MART, the largest Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Italy, and for the Maria Dolens Bell, made from the smelted bronze of cannons, that sounds every evening to commemorate the dead of all wars. Other possibilities include the casteles dotted along the Valle dei Laghi: Castel Drena, Castello di Terlago, and the atmospheric Castel Toblino, a rare example of a lake fortification. |
